The following is the text of my email to S18Cconsultation@ag.gov.au. While I doubt Brandis will take any of the submissions on board, I still had to write in.
Maybe my thoughts will assist you in writing your own email…..
To Whom It May Concern
I am writing to formally lodge my complaint with the proposed amendments to the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) as outlined in the Attorney-General’s media release dated 25 March 2014.
As a individual having undertaken a Bachelor of Laws and a graduate diploma of Legal Practice with a predominant focus on human rights, I can see that the changes that have been outlined can and will be exploited to the detriment of minority peoples, i.e. those that the Act seeks to protect, by both the ignorant and the hateful members of our society.
It is my belief that we should not let the myth of blanketed freedom of speech (that we have inherited from our adoration of the United States) come at the cost of those in our society that are least equipped to be able to assert their rights and defend themselves under other areas of law (that in and of themselves are quite limited in terms of the ability to redress a situation) like defamation.
As a voting citizen, a tax payer, a lawyer and a woman who is a proud Aboriginal person who seeks to create a future where I can have children who will have all of the protections that our legislature can and should afford, I urge you not to move forward with any amendments to the Racial Discrimination Act, let alone those that have been proposed.
If you would like further information on my arguments against this decision, please don’t hesitate in contacting me on 04XX XXX XXX.
Go on, tell me about my people and my culture…

Let it be this one.
It is horrifying and very sad but we can’t let unjustices like this continue to happen silently…
